We in Sri Lanka as the Holy Childhood Society proudly announce that we too are planning to celebrate the said Jubilee by organizing a National Event on 2nd December, 2023 at the diocese of Kurunegala. Planning is now under way.
Accordingly, we have been successful in launching a National Flag Day in lieu of the Jubilee celebration on 4th September, 2023. The first Flag was presented by the P.M.S.National Director and team to His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Brian Udaigwe, Apostolic Nuncio in Sri Lanka. Simultaneously, the PMS diocesan Directors along with Animators and a few Holy Childhood Children did present the first flag to the respective Bishops. It is noted with joy that they all contributed with enthusiasm towards the success of the project and parted their blessings for which we are thankful to them all.
The sale of the Flag is now in full swing in every diocese and these are being sold in public transport services such as busses, trains etc. by the Holy Childhood Children and Animators in keeping with the theme ‘Children helping Children’ and flags are also sold in Banks, schools, market places, at road sides and other private and government institutions and the P.M.S. diocesan Directors are helping and supporting them in every way possible.
The proceeds of the is to be utilized for a Drinking Water Project – to supply drinking water to a poor school which does not have this facility, in the diocese of Kurunegala at which diocese the National celebration is to be held this time, which process we consider as a necessity of the time and a worthwhile project.
We kindly request the general public to support us in making this project a success. Our aim of the Flag Day is to achieve the theme of the Holy Childhood Society which is ‘Children helping Children’ and encourage and involve them in introducing of such projects.
“God bless the cheerful giver.”
