Among the many forms of service to the missions, the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) have always held support for direct evangelization as their primary objective … they consider that “the best service we can offer to our brother is evangelization, which helps him to live and act as a son of God, sets him free from injustices and assists his overall development” (Redemptoris Missio 58).
Through the Universal Solidarity Fund, the PMS gives priority to Churches in difficult situations and with greater needs, helping them, with respect, to respond to their pastoral needs and missionary fundamentals in view of their progress towards self-sufficiency and to make them able, in their turn, to respond to the needs of others.
Common concern for the missionary needs of all of the Churches and of every Particular Church makes the PMS an expression of universal communion and solidarity.
