WALVIS BAY: Pontifical Mission Societies(PMS) MISSION AND EVANGELIZATION WORKSHOP

africa

On Saturday, 16.03.2024, PMS National Office conducted the mission and Evangelization workshop in Walvis Bay - Stella Maris Parish Hall for Western Deanery, in Windhoek Archdiocese , attended by over 50 participants. PMS has its primary purpose, the promotion of a universal missionary spirit - a spirit of prayer and sacrifice - among all baptized Catholics.

During the worship, it has been explained that, Pontifical Mission Societies, invite baptized Catholics to express their missionary commitment by offering their prayers, personal sacrifices and financial support for the work of the Church in the Missions, especially total commitment to the special Pontifical collections for Rome.

In addition, the workshop emphasized the growth of the local Church towards a self-reliant Church. "All Catholics are mandated to immensely contribute to the Church wellbeing, be it in form of monetary contributions or in kind and charity."

The workshop further, introduced and explained the missionary rosary to the participants, sothat they can pray for the missionaries and mission of Christ, particularly during the mission and rosary month of October. This year, the mission Sunday will be celebrated on 20 October in each catholic parish or community, under the theme: "GO AND INVITE EVERYONE TO THE BANQUET"(Mt. 22: 9) as promulgated by Pope Francis. Participants expressed their satisfaction after the workshop, and called for more workshops of the similar nature to enlighten them in PMS charism and spirit of mission.
