"Children help children" - 180th Anniversary of the foundation of the Society of the Holy Childhood (1843)
Dear Missionary Children,
Dear animators,
Dear parents,
On May 19, 2023, we will celebrate the 180th anniversary of the foundation of the Society of the Holy Childhood.
I invite you to thank the Lord together for the precious contribution of the Holy Childhood, since 1843, to the mission of the Church, to the growth in faith of so many children involved, to the many institutions and activities supported thanks to the donations of children from all over the world.
The founder, Bishop Charles de Forbin Janson, was able to see the first shoots of what the Holy Spirit had inspired in his heart, following his missionary passion.
Today we can rejoice in these ripe fruits, but we are called to continue, to persist in prayer, in witnessing, in offering, so that every child may have the opportunity to know Jesus and to grow with Him and like Him in age, wisdom and grace.
Dear missionary children and adolescents, the Lord has given me a great gift in being with you today, on this important anniversary. It is a blessing.
It is an honor for me to serve the Church and its mission through the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood and together with each of you.
I would like to thank you!
Thank you for your unceasing prayer.
Thank you for your courageous and faithful witness.
Thank you for your sacrifices for the joy and lives of other children.
