TANZANIA: CHILDREN PRAY THE ROSARY AS THE CHURCH MARKS THE 100TH WORLD MISSION SUNDAY

20 October 2026

On 17 October 2026, thousands of children from all 37 dioceses of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference joined in a united recitation of the Holy Rosary, broadcast nationwide by Radio Maria Tanzania. The main celebration took place at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Dar es Salaam. Dioceses led the Joyful Mysteries and the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary, joined by priests, religious, lay animators and representatives of the Pontifical Mission Societies.

The following day, the Catholic Church in Tanzania celebrated the 100th anniversary of World Mission Sunday. Through diocesan preparation and homilies delivered by priests and bishops, the faithful were encouraged to pray and contribute generously to the Holy Father’s Solidarity Fund, which supports missionary activities around the world. The celebrations renewed missionary enthusiasm and invited children and adults alike to support the Church’s mission through prayer, love and generosity
