Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood: the new bulletin has been published
Bulletin number 12 of the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood has been published in recent days. Sister Tremarelli, General Secretary of POSI, indicated three "paths" on which to reflect and deepen: the Holy Spirit, protagonist of the Mission, in reference to the message of World Mission Day; the Pope's prayer intention for the month of November, dedicated to children who suffer and the attention of the founder of POSI which was not only material help for children, but also their spiritual nourishment so that they could become little evangelizers themselves.
Full of numerous contributions from all over the world, the Bulletin opens with an interesting section dedicated to historical documents related to the attention and closeness of the Popes to POSI. Among these, the presence of a protective Cardinal stands out, a role that the Pope also played in some cases, as was the case of the then Cardinal Pacelli who, once he became Pius XII, wanted to maintain this protective role towards the Pontifical Society of Missionary Childhood. It then continues with the history and anniversaries celebrated this year by the Pontifical Mission Societies with a speech by Fernando Redondo Benito, President of the NGO Mission America, who analyzes the importance of these celebrations as an opportunity for missionary momentum and encouragement towards the future. The publication then presents the testimonies that have come from many countries, beginning with Myanmar (diocese of Pekhon) where a formation program for re-evangelization was carried out through POSI. Also Cameroon (diocese Kumbo) where, despite the current complex socio-political situation reports the story of Sister Miranda Musong Nange Sisters of Saint Ann, Coordinator of Moral Education on the catechesis program in non-Catholic schools.
Also interesting is the news about the Apostolic Vicariate of Western Sahara, which in 2020 had 350 baptized out of a population of 1,075,350. From Albania (Archdiocese of Tirana-Durres) comes the progress report of the Pastoral Year 2021-2022 project implemented by the Canossian Community based in Shen Vlash, which has seen 65 children from 3 to 14 years of age involved, carried out thanks to the support of the POSI. CAPI, Center for Indigenous Pastoral Animation of the Vaupés of the Apostolic Vicariate of Mitù in Colombia, is the center of reception, formation, action and contemplation, endowed with wide spaces and its own cultural dimension, of which Sister Luz Adriana Meneses speaks, a Teresian Missionary Delegate for the Pastoral Care of Children and Youth. From Ivory Coast the story and testimony of Sister Gisèle N’Guessan, missionary of the Missionary Community of Villaregia, who led the POSI in Ivory Coast from 2019 to 2022 and shares her experience.
Finally, space is given to the many activities carried out in different countries, from Argentina with the National Congress of Missionary Childhood and Adolescence to the meetings held in some dioceses of Nicaragua, as well as in Uganda. It is also worth noting, among the articles in the Bulletin, the testimony of the missionary families in Colombia and the experience of the Young Missio in Austria.
