50 young people. Two Catholic traditions. One faith. One mission.

Young people from the Melkite Greek Catholic Church and the Latin Catholic Church in Jordan came together for a missionary youth gathering organized by the Pontifical Mission Societies, under the theme: ““One in Christ, United in Mission”. Through prayer, formation, sharing, and a missionary rally, the young people were invited to discover that Jesus must remain at the center of our lives and of our mission. In his reflection, H.E. Msgr. Iyad Twal, Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan, reminded us that our faith calls us to be witnesses of our experience of Jesus. Mission may lead us to other continents — Africa, America, Asia, Europe or Oceania — but it always begins where we are. It begins in our daily lives, by taking responsibility for one another, noticing those who are struggling, and reaching out to people who are facing difficulties. Our first mission territory is the place where God has placed us. During the gathering, the young people discovered the four Pontifical Mission Societies, explored the missionary reality of the Church throughout the world, and reflected on what it means to be missionaries here in Jordan. The missionary rally reminded us that we do not walk alone. We are one body, one Church, called to walk together, support one another, and bring Christ to the world. Because mission is not only about going somewhere. It is about allowing Christ to live in us and becoming witnesses of Him wherever we are.
