Every year, the Catholic Church in Malawi celebrates the Day of Consecrated Life and the Pontifical Missionary Union in a special way. This year, activities began in the Diocese of Karonga on 2 February, while in other dioceses the celebration is scheduled for 7 February, with the national celebration in the Diocese of Dedza. The theme of the celebration, which echoes that chosen for this year's World Mission Day 2026, is: “May priests and religious be one in Christ, united in mission”.  The structure of the day in the different dioceses includes an initial presentation on the theme: ‘One in Christ, united in mission’. After this, the priest, nuns, religious and lay faithful will have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This will be followed by the Eucharistic celebration. In Dedza, where the national event will be held, after the Eucharistic celebration there will be the presentation of the commemorative banner for the 100th anniversary of World Mission Day and the 110th anniversary of the foundation of the Pontifical Missionary Union.
