HOLY FATHER'S PRAYER INTENTION
For evangelization: The way of the heart
In the Holy Father's prayer intention for the month of June, he asks us to pray so that those who suffer "may find their way in life, allowing themselves to be touched by the Heart of Jesus". Where there is pain, suffering and difficulty, there is always the Heart of Jesus first. Devotion to the Heart of Jesus was supported and spread by Matilda of Magdeburg (1207-1282), Matilda of Hackeborn (1241-1299), Gertrude of Helfta (1256-1302) and Enrico Suso (1295-1366) and in particular by Saint Jean Eudes (1601-1680). In the 17th century the Cult of the Sacred Heart of Jesus begins after the revelations to Saint Maria Margherita Alacoque (1647-1690), canonized on May 13, 1920 by Pope Benedict XV, a visitation nun in the monastery of Paray-le-Monial, who is greatly recognized for her devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In the twentieth century, devotion is revived with St. Faustina Kowalska's message on Divine Mercy. “The Heart of Christ - said Pope Francis on June 28, 2019, meeting the delegations of the World Prayer Network - is so great that it wishes to welcome us all in the revolution of tenderness. Closeness to the Lord's Heart urges our hearts to come closer to our brother with love, and helps us to enter into this compassion for the world”.
