Father Eugen Blaj, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, together with his closest collaborators, has described the visit of Sister Inês Paulo Albino, the new Secretary General of the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood (POSI), on the occasion of World Mission Day, as “an extraordinary gift”.

“The visit of Sister Inês has been an extraordinary gift for all of us, especially for the little missionaries of Romania, who welcomed her with such enthusiasm and affection”, says Father Blaj. “These children, with their purity and joy, have borne witness to the beauty of their faith, participating with their families in moments of prayer and missionary animation, and showing how, through their talents and small daily actions, the message of love and hope of Christ can be spread. Their example is a light that moves us and fills us with hope for the future of the Church.”

The visit of the Secretary General of POSI, which took place from 16 to 22 October, was filled with many significant moments, starting with the meeting with the community of the Republic of Moldova, the meeting with all the priests and religious of the diocese of Chinisau at the request of Bishop Coșa, and the meeting with the Apostolic Nuncio, Giampero Gloder in Bucharest, a moment of communion and impetus for the mission of the Church in Romania.

“The highlight of these days was undoubtedly the arrival of the children to join the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood,” said Matilda Andrici, head of Missionary Childhood in Romania. “Seeing these little hearts burning with enthusiasm for Christ’s mission was an extraordinary gift, which deeply moved us. It is a living testimony of how the Gospel can germinate in the youngest hearts, bearing fruits of hope and love.” Alexia Varga, a teenage missionary from the parish of St. Francis of Assisi in Cleja, Bacau, tells us: “With each hug from Sister Agnes, we received a wave of warmth, light and deeper understanding of this mission that we share with everyone. Her presence among us encouraged us to make Jesus known and to continue our mission, growing ever more in faith. Dear Sister Agnes, you have become our friend. Thank you for everything.”
