Every year, resources are prepared for Advent & Christmas for our donors. The purpose of these resources is to remind donors about the work of Missio Ireland and to engage with them.
The Advent Resource is prepared with our youngest donors in mind. These resources have been prepared and have been sent to primary schools for the last number of years. As well as the Advent Resource, a Christmas scene and an Advent Calendar is also sent to the schools. The Christmas scene is generally a Nativity Scene, and it is also a colouring competition. There are prizes for winners and runners up in each age category. The image produced by the overall winner is used for our Christmas card the next year.
Christmas cards have been sent to our older donors for many years now. It is only in recent years that the winning entry of the Christmas colouring competition has been used for the card. It is important for older donors to realise that Missio Ireland reaches such a wide age range, from primary school children to adults.
In 2024 and 2025, a Calendar has also been sent to our donors, to accompany the Christmas card. Both the card and Calendar have proved very popular with donors, especially older donors who live alone.
Resources are sent to donors and parishes nationwide at other times of the year also. Other resources include the following:
· February: Prayers & Reflections booklets to mark World Day of the Sick.
· March / April: Resources for schools for Lent / Easter.
· June: Newsletter to donors.
· September / October: Resources to parishes for the Mission Month of October.
· October: Annual Review to donors for the Mission Month of October.
· November: Resources to schools for Advent / Christmas.
