In mid-June and early July, the Holy Childhood Society in Tanzania has had various Congresses, especially at diocesan and metropolitan levels. These Congresses were also precious occasions for children to celebrate their pilgrimages in this Jubilee Year 2025. Among other topics, the Jubilee Theme: Pilgrimages of Hope, was specially taught to the children. The metropolitans that celebrated these congresses include: Mwanza, Dar es Salaam and Dodoma where a representative from our PMS national office was able to participate in presence and give topics.
The Metropolitan of Mwanza which is made up of eight dioceses: (Archdiocese of Mwanza, dioceses of Musoma, Shinyanga, Bukoba, Bunda, Kayanga, Geita and Rulenge Ngara) held its Congress from 19th to 21st June 2025 which had more than 5000 children. Our National Office was represented by the PMS National Director, Rev. Fr Alfred Kwene, who emphasized to the children on two main themes: The Mission of the Holy Childhood Society, namely a child helping another child, a child praying for another child and a child evangelizing another child. The second was about the importance of Holy Childhood Congresses that it is an opportunity for children to evangelize each other among those who attended and to be spiritually enriched to go and evangelize their fellow children when they return to their dioceses.
The second Metropolitan is Dar es Salaam, also known as the Eastern Metropolitan whose congress was schedule on the 19th - 23rd June with the total number of 2689 children. This metropolitan is made up of seven dioceses, namely: Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam, dioceses of Bagamoyo, Tanga, Morogoro, Ifakara, Mahenge and Zanzibar. The participant from our PMS National Headquarters was Sr Anagladness Mrumah, National Holy Childhood Secretary.
The third Metropolitan Congress that our PMS National Office participated in was held in the Metropolitan of Dodoma on the 25th - 29th June 2025 with 1295 children. In comparison to the preceding two metropolitans, this as a small metropolitan composed of only three dioceses, namely: Archdiocese of Dodoma, dioceses of Singida and Kondoa). This Metropolitan was attended by the National Holy Childhood Secretary, Sr Anagladness, who taught the children the History of the Holy Childhood Society, in which she explained in detail its responsibilities. She also had an audience with the 166 animators who were leading the children and thus reminded them of their responsibilities as leaders of children.
We thank God that through these Congresses, which have been held throughout the church in Tanzania, both be it at diocesan or metropolitan levels; our children have been able to celebrate the Jubilee Year 2025 as Pilgrims of Hope. These have been good moments for their spiritual nourishment as they received special graces and blessings of the holy jubilee year 2025 going back home as Pilgrims of Hope Among all Peoples.
